Féile U-14 Semi-Final 2010
Craughwell 2-1 Turloughmore 1-2
Craughwell had the assistance of a strong breeze in the first half and
took an early lead when Aishling Connolly scored a goal in the sixth
minute. It was an advantage that still held at half-time, despite both
sides creating good scoring chances.
However, Turloughmore subsequently gained parity with the victors
midway through the second period, before taking the lead with a
pointed free.
Indeed, it looked as if the pre-match favourites would be the ones
advancing to the final but this Craughwell team, as they have shown
throughout the championship, are not short of character and heart.
Consequently, they rallied brilliantly in the last few minutes, with
Leanne Freaney scoring a vital goal to put Craughwell in control once
again, while Shauna Burke added an invaluable point to put
Craughwell in control once again.
While Turloughmore desperately tried to save their Féile aspirations -
they did convert a free in injury time, Craughwell held on gamely for a
great victory. They will now contest their first Féile final since 1996,
taking on red-hot favourites Ardrahan in the camógie showpiece on
May 2nd.
